I supposed to take a new strip of althea last Sunday Jan 12 on my first day of period but i forgot and only remembers today Jan 17. Can i still start the new strip after the period, today Jan 17? Please need to know as soon as possible or today. Thank you!
Yes, they can be taken but along with additional contraception. You would be protected from pregnancy straight away if you start taking althea pills on the first day of your period (day one of your menstrual cycle). You do not need additional contraception.
However, if you start taking althea pills on any other day of your cycle, you will not be protected from pregnancy straight away and will need additional contraception like condom or diaphragm until you have taken althea for seven days without a break.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
