Can I Take Oral Pyridium For Burning While Urinating During Prostate Cancer Radiation, Considering I Can T Tolerate IV Iodine?

I’m having radiation for prostate cancer. I’ve had to discontinue radiation as I’m up all night and have become incontinent. I have burning on urinating and want to get pyridium. I cannot tolerate iv iodine, but can I still try the oral pyridium?

Hello,

You have to first rule out G-6PD deficiency in you, only after that pyridium can be taken safely. In those with G-6PD deficiency, pyridium can lead to hemolysis and renal failure.
