Can I Take The Medicine For The Pain On The First Day Of Menstruation?

I always have pain on first day of menstruation. I am told not to take medicine unless it can t be tolerated. So, every month I try to bear the pain for as long as possible but always end up taking one tablet of Meftalspas. I just want to know why should I not take single dose when the pain starts and not wait till it become unbearable ?..

Hello,

You can take the pain medicine any time on the period and there is no need to withhold the pill on the first day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
