Can I Use Minoxidil Instead Of Clonate Lotion After A One-day Gap??

Good evening, recently i am suffering from telogen effluvium and my dermatologist suggested me to use clonate lotion-0.05%. Due to the steriod content in the lotion, i am afraid to use it and after using for 2 days, consulted other doctor who has suggested me minoxidil 2%. So, can i use minoxidil in place of clonate lotion in the gap of one day? other thing, i did shampooed my hairs to remove the remnants of clonate steroid, so did it get removed or i should have oiled first then washed?
