Can IUD Cause Vaginal Dryness?

My wife is 33 yo and after 3 kids had an iud placed this past winter. She has been c/o vaginal dryness The last few months and I'm wondering if this is the cause. The iud brand is called merino , and from what I've read it is listed as a side effect. But not sure if it is a significant one or not. If in fact this is the cause what would be the best course of action....to have it removed or to try a hormonal cream or lubricant? She took the pill prior to the iud.
