Can Ibuprofen Be Taken After Subarachnoid Hemorrhages?

I ve recently had a minor brain injury from a fall and I m not sleeping well, loazepam does nothing and I don t like lopidem. Last night and to an extent today I feel very agitated-likely due to lack of sleep I guess. I also take bupropion, escitalopram. I was unconscious for 10 minutes and suffered 2 small subarachnoid hemorrahges. Is it now ok to resume use of ibuprofen

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you suffered from subarachnoid hemorrhage and that's a very serious condition and in that case, NSAIDs are not recommended as these drugs increase the frequency of bleed.

I would recommend you to consult your neurologist and get proper pain medications. Over the counter, acetaminophen is only recommended for you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
