Can Ibuprofen Be Taken For Ankle Swelling Due To An Injury?

I got hit with a miniature golf club right on the outside ankle bone. It swelled up and bruised immediately before I could walk inside to get ice. I iced it for a good 20 minutes and took ibuprofen when I got home. I am able to walk on it but it is throbbing as I have it elevated.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
What initial precautions you have taken by applying ice and taking Ibuprofen seems to be right.
It would be better if you follow the things mentioned below for better outcome.
1. Continue applying ice pack for 15 minutes thrice daily. You may also apply analgesic ointment as a thin layer topically at bedtime.
2. Take Tablet. Diclofenac with Serratiopeptidase combination twice daily for 5 days after food.
3. Keep your foot end elevated during sleeping.
4. Take care not to bear weight directly till the symptoms subside completely.
Gradually, you should start feeling better and should be back to normal.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
