Can Ibuprofen Be Taken For Foot Pain?

I got hit in the inside of my foot, by the heel with a hockey puck from a slap shot this afternoon. Played the rest of the game. Foot has gradually been hurting since. When I lay in bed the pain goes from heel pad and shoots up to my knee. Should I just take ibprophin and ice it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you seem to have developed sprain ankles. Yes, pain reliever like ibuprofen does help in reducing the pain and swelling.

Besides, I also advise you to give rest to the affected part, avoid activities that cause pain or discomfort, use an ice pack for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat every two to three hours while you're awake.

Compress the ankle with an elastic bandage (not too tight) and elevate your ankle above the level of your heart, especially at night.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
