Can Ibuprofen Or Doxycycline Be Taken For Extreme Pain In Wisdom Tooth?
Hi, I have an impacted wisdom tooth and a lot of discomfort as a result. It's been impacted a while but the problems have only been minor. I've had swelling and excruciating pain for 48 hours. I can't get to a dentist for another 72 hours as I'm travelling in Colombia!
I have a couple of ibuprofen left which I can take. I also have doxycycline in my bag and read this might help? Any advice'
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain in wisdom tooth seems to be due to due to bacteremia and septicemia as chances of infection are there.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated and get X-ray of concerned tooth done and start treatment accordingly as there are chances of infection in root tips and it could be due to improper alignment of tooth. Maintain oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. You should do warm saline gargles to subside pain. You can take Ibuprofen for pain symptoms and if pain is really high you can take Tramadol. Yes along with painkiller you should take antibiotics such as Doxycycline.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
