Can Ketoconazole Be Used For Yeast Infection On The Stomach?

My dermatologist prescribed extina to treat a yeast infection on my stomach. I believe the active ingredient is ketoconazole. Webmd states that Ketoconazole should not be used to treat fungal infections on the skin and nails due to the risk of serious side effects and drug interactions. Any thoughts? Harvey Nirider

Hi Harvey, I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Answer: Yes, Ketoconazole can be used on the skin of your tummy to treat yeast infection. Mostly, it is safe but if you are taking other medications as well then talk to your doctor.

Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me for any further clarification.
