Can Lasix Be Taken While Having Low Blood Pressure?

I ve had a blood test for heart failure, and showed an elevated result. My Dr. prescribed Lasix with Potassium. I have low blood pressure (90/?), and see that Lasix can lower blood pressure. Should I start taking the Lasix, or wait till I can see my cardiologist (hopefully tomorrow). Drs offices are closed now. I do have mitral valve prolapse, and expected to eventually have issues, but had some confusion with possible anemia that I ve had in the past, but blood work showed not anemic. Thanks

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

This drug is a diuretic, which can help reduce fluid retention in case of heart failure. If you have swollen legs or shortness of breath, this drug will help improve your situation. Otherwise, there is no need to take it. A cardiac ultrasound is also necessary in order to help examine your heart function and structure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
