Can Lisinopril And Amlodipine Be Taken Together?

Is it safe or healthy for a person to be taking Lisinopril 20 mg and Amlodipine Bes 10 mg together. My fiancé is incarcerated and has very high blood pressure and this is what the Dr. is prescribing but he says its making him sick and has been causing other health problems. He wrote this in a letter to me but did not elaborate on what other problems its causing him.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query your fiance had extremely high blood pressure and doctor gave him a combination of Lisionpril and Amlodipine which is perfect combination as both these drugs can be combined together to give an additive effect of lowering blood pressure. Thus this combination is prescribed when single drug don't work and we have to lower down the blood pressure.

Other health problems which you are talking about here is mainly lightheadedness, dizziness, weakness which is mainly because we need to monitor blood pressure on regular basis specially in first few weeks to ensure blood pressure don't fall too low.

I would suggest to keep a proper record of blood pressure and if it is falling too low visit your practioner once to get another combination or adjust its dosage or take any triplet copmbination to better your condition without any major side effects.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
