Can Losartan Potassium Be Taken Before An Eye Surgery?
I ve just been prescribed Losartan Potassium because my BP was 170/90. I m afraid to start because I m not sure if it s considered a diuretic, and I m being operated on in 3 weeks for a basal cell carcinoma on my lower right eyelid. I don t know if I should start taking a new medication at this time.
You should start the Medicine immediately as your blood pressure is on the higher side. It is important for the blood pressure to be in the normal range before undergoing any surgery.
It is most likely that if you take Losartan regularly as prescribed your blood pressure will be stabilized in three week time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma Amman
