Can Losartan Be Taken Instead Of Metoprolol Safely?

I have been taking metoprolol for quite a while now and I believe it is causing a chronic cough. My PA has changed me to Losartin. A friend is telling me that Metoprolol is not a high blood pressure med but everything I can find says it is. I don t have angina or any other heart condition than high blood pressure. Is Losartin a good replacement for the Metoprolol?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Look METOPROLOL & LOSARTAN both are Antihypertensive medicines only but of different groups.

Here you need to know that these are having other Cardio protective roles also.

I would like to suggest you visit your doctor and let your doctor decide which medicine shall be better for you. Don't just change medicines with Google/friend's suggestions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
