Can Lyrica Be Taken For Pain In The Leg?

I have multiple sclerosis and had a set back the the other day with pain in my leg. My dr. Just put me on 75mg of lyrica because she said the pain is nerve pain. I read the side effect could cause cancer hand a weakened immune system, is this true? I am to be on it for 2 weeks before I go back to the doc. If the lyrica works for me and I continue to take it, I ll be putting myself at risk for getting infections easily, correct? Is there another medicine I could ask to try with less risks?

Hello,

Lyrica is a medication to control pain caused by fibromyalgia, or nerve pain.

It is a very commonly prescribed medication.

The side effects that you mentioned in the query are extremely rare.

There is no study that confirms that it can cause cancer.

So, you can take this medication without any worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
