Can MEFTAGESIC - DS Suspension Be Given To An 11-year-old?

My 11 year son (weight 31 kg) is sufferring from high fever (~102 F) since today morning. Giving Crocin DS helped to reduce fever till 101. But not further. It has rose again. Can we give MEFTAGESIC - DS Suspension to him? If yes, what should be the quantity? Kindly advice. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Meftagesic-ds suspension contains mefenamic acid and paracetamol. As he is 11 years old 10 ml up to 3 times daily. Be careful as crocin ds contains paracetamol only, while meftagesic contains paracetamol in combination with mefenamic acid. Stop giving crocin as it will cause paracetamol overdose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
