Can Marijuana Be Taken To Help Treat Dermatomyositis?

Hello i have been diagnoses with dermatomyositis a little over a year ago. I switched medication recently, 2 months ago, from immuran to methotrexate, because the immuranl was not working. I have lately been experimenting with marijuana as relief for the side effects of methotrexate and to help with the muscle pains with dermatomyositis. I have noticed almost instantaneous relief when I m using the marijuana. Do you think I will be able to get a medical marijuana license for this? I live in colorado and I am 18.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From your history your problem can be most likely due to meniscal or ligament issue inside knee. Treatment depends upon the extent of the injury.

In case of mild to moderate cases knee immobilization followed by quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises will be helpful. If no improvement then arthroscopic surgical correction might be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,

Dr. Nishad BN
