Can Meloxicam Be Safely Taken For The Present?

Hi I am waiting to see a specialist about PVC, at the same time I was just prescribed Meloixicam 7.5mg twice daily for my elbow, I am hesitant to take the Meloxicam . I am 55, female , 5ft6in 180lbs. Should I hold off taking the Meloxicam until I see the heart specialist?
