Can Metformin And The Iodine Injected For CAT Scan React?

I just had a CAT scan with iodine injected and was told to stop my Acto + Met because metformin and the iodine are bad taken together. I am having a blood test (BUN and Creatinine) to determine when to resume the metformin. Do I need to fast before this test?

Hello,

When on metformin and one gets the iodine injected, there is a higher risk of kidney injury.
Provided you stopped your metformin as per the doctor's instructions, you should be fine.
You do not need to fast for the BUN and creatinine test. You would need to fast only if your fasting blood sugar would be measured at the same time.

All the best.
