Can Methotrexate Cause Enlarged Lymph Nodes In Breast?

I was on an increased dose of Methotrexate 25mg for 8 months. My liver enzymes went up GGt 136 so my dose was lowered to 12.5 and then10 mg. In the meantime I had a Mammogram which showed an enlarged lymph node 2.5 cm. I am now off MTX since an US three weeks ago. (I chickened out of FNA)and am booked for a repeat next week. If it shrinks can I be pretty sure that the MTX was the cause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Though very rare, but still the cases of lympho-proliferative disorders have been seen in patients taking methotrexate. Therefore, if enlargement of lymph gland or glands is seen in patient, who is on methotrexate, biopsy of the lymph gland is indicated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
