Hello DOctor, I am 65 year old, Diabatic, i found in the last test my Microalbumin uria is more than the allowable limits and my doctor prescribed me to continue Metpure XL 25 twice in a day, but since last 6 months i have been taking once in a day only. When i checked my docotor dont i need any medicine to reduce the Micoalbmun lelvel ( like NEFROSAVE) He said it is not necessary since Metpure XL25 dosage is increased. I am not convinced with that answer, please advise.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The Metpure XL is a Beta blocker group of drug used for cases of hypertension and angina conditions on long term basis with mortality benefit. However, beta blocker has no role in the management of microalbuminemia treatment or progress halting. The ACE inhibitors such as Enalapril or others are best recommended molecule to control the microalbuminemia in diabetes and other conditions.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
