Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had sinus surgery on Thursday. Today is Monday. Is it ok to take a Mucinex to help thin the mucous that s running down the back of my throat? I was told not to take any sinus medications because they will not help unclog me, and I understand that. I m not looking for congested nose relief. I am looking to thin the very thick mucous draining down my throat causing me to cough incessantly.

Can Mucinex Be Taken After A Sinus Surgery?
Hello, You can safely take Mucinex after sinus surgery. It won’t cause any post operative problems. However avoid forceful blowing. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
