Can Mucinex Be Taken Along With Lisinopril?

Have a cough and some chest congestion with small amounts of productive mucus. Am currently on 10 mg of lisinopril daily. May I take mucinex DM with lisinopril? Also, the expiration on this lot of mucinex is June, 2016. Is this safe to take? Thanks!

Hi,

There are different types of mucinex eg mucinex allergy, mucinex dm, mucinex fast max cold and sinus. Generally, the ingredients of most of them may be guaifenesin, paracetamol, dextromethorphan, phenyephrine. You can check to see what are the ingredients in the mucinex that you are using. There is no interaction between any of these agents and lisinopril so they can be safely used together.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
