Can Mucinex Be Taken For Cough After A Heart Surgery?

My daughter has had two heart surgeries: a tetralogy of Fallot repair and an AV Canal repair. She is coughing consistently. I have been giving her a Walgreens brand runny nose and cough medicine, but it is not working. Can she take Mucinex if so, adult or children s, she is 14 and weighs 173 lbs

Mucinex can be taken to thin and lose the mucus in the airways. She can take it without any problem. I also recommend drinking liquids an rest.
