Can Mupirocin Ointment Be Used For Rashes Around The Genital Area?

I have a rash between my genitals and my thighs. It looks cracked and maybe blistered. I have always had bad heat rash since I was kid. This is much worse than anything ive ever had. I have had the same sexual partner for 8 years. I have some mupirocin ointment for unrelated issues. Can i use this?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes around the genital area which could be due to fungal infection of thighs mainly Tinea, as it localizes on body folds and thigh area. Need not to worry. You can apply Mupirocin once a week along with proper course of oral antibiotics. You shroud oral tablets of Terbinafine for 1 week. You should clean the skin with soap and cold water and apply petroleum jelly. Apply moderately potent topical steroid of triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream twice daily at affected sites.You should visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Take tablet of cetirizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching.
