Can Norco And Valium Be Taken Together?

I broke my kneecap and had surgery nine weeks ago. I seemed to be doing well until last week. I started having severe stabbing pains in the right side of my knee last week when I would try to stand up, walk or when trying to sit down. I have been taking 10 mg of Norco for pain. My doctor says it is probably muscle spasms causing this new pain and prescribe 2 mg valium. It did nothing and today called in a script for 10 mg Flexoril. Since his office is closed now, need to know if I can take the Norco and Flexoril together at the same time or should I wait in between.

Hello,

I understand your concern and I'm sorry to hear about your knee problem.
Flexeril is a muscle relaxant and in view of the knee pain caused by muscle spasm, is the right drug to take. This drug works by blocking nerve impulses that are sent to the brain, thus decreasing pain sensation. For this reason, I do not think it is necessary to take Norco in addition to Flexeril. However there is no known drug interaction between the two drugs.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
