Can Norethisterone Cause Menstrual Irregularities?

Hi, I got norethisterone 5mg tablets prescribed to stop a period, but the period came a week before it was due- unusual as I have had a 28-29 day cycle for 2 years now.

I started the tablets anyway, but they are not stopping the period. Is there anything I can do?

I have been told to take 1 tablet 2x daily.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you continue to take it then the period should continue to decrease. The dose that you are using is the normal dose taken to delay the period.

As you mentioned, it normally works best if taken a few days before the expected period.

I hope this helps
