Can Norethisterone Help With Depression And Fatigue Associated With PMD?
Can Norethisterone help with the depression and fatigue associated with PMDD? My period is usually 2 or 3 weeks late and I can t take much more waiting. But then will starting Norethisterone make any difference? I ve never taken it before - I just can t take the non POP because of obesity and high BP.PS - GP useless
I can understand your concern. Norethisterone contains progesterone that will surely help you with fatigue and depression felt before periods as part of premenstrual syndrome.
However, you can expect periods in 2 to 3 days after stopping the pill. Sometimes you may have to wait for as long as 7 days for periods to come after stopping the pill.
However, you should get blood tests to determine hormonal levels and go for ultrasonography for checking ovaries and uterus structure along with ovulation stage determination. The symptoms you experience co-relate with hormonal imbalance with may be due to polycystic ovaries, thyroid dysfunction, premature ovarian follicle failure or infection of ovaries/uterus which should be diagnosed and treated accordingly for permanent solution.
