Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I started taking Microlite last month, on around the sixth day of my period. I know that it says if you take it within the 2nd or 5th day, you must wait a week for it to be effective. However, I had sex with no condom or pull out method about 1 week after I started the pill. I used norlevo ECP as a precaution. I then had sex with no condom and the pull out method a week later. I did not take the ECP that time, I have not forgotten to take a pill (I ve taken a full month of them) and was wondering what are the chances of menbeing pregnant? And would the ECP possibly delay my period? I took my last pill of the packet last night so I assume my period is due to start today? Thank you for any help you can give
Yes, Norlevo ECP can delay the periods. Used within 72 hours following an unprotected sex, emergency contraceptive pills like Norlevo ECP are up to 95% effective in preventing an unwanted pregnancy. This pill may cause irregular bleeding or delayed periods. Now, since you had unprotected sex again on 12th day of your cycle while on microlite you are protected against pregnancy. There is nothing to worry.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
