Can Nuforce-G Be Used For An Infected Wound On The Foot?

i live in cambodia and the availability of modern medicines or how to use what is fairly scarce. A few days ago i grazed my foot and although usually cleaning the wound and letting it dry would allow it to heal, I picked up an infection in the cut. The location is a little worrying as the wound is on the soft skin on the top of my foot close to some nice healthy veins. So I started cleaning and using first betadine gel, that didn t work. After that the local pharmacy gave me Nuforce g cream (which the internet tells me is sold in Tanzania). I was sceptical of what the pharmacist said was the perfect cream to deal with this infection, I ve seen mosquito and sand fly bites get infected and the cases get very serious from then on. Is Nuforce right for this kind of a problem

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of an infected wound, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil, and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
