Hi,

As the doctor has seen her, there might be significant wheezing in chest, prompting to give omancortil (a steroid), to avoid further worsening and getting admitted. There is nothing dangerous in giving this drug twice for 5 days, at an interval of 5 weeks. Just stick on to your doctors advise.

But remember that, if she is getting this wheezing very often, we will need to evaluate her for asthma and give inhaled steroids regularly for sometimes- these drugs prevent recurrent exacerbations and the dose used in extremely lower than oral steroids and having much fewer side effects. Your doctor will guide in this. Meanwhile try to avoid triggers like cold / dust.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
