Can Oxycodone-Acetaminophen And Diazepam Be Taken Together?
my doctor changed my medication yesterday and I am confused as to the safety of the combination.(I am in my third week post-op total knee replacement. I am also dealing with L3 nerve pain and sciatic nerve pain in the same hip and leg.) Doctor discontinued my muscle relaxer,IC Methocarbamol and replaced it with IC Diazepam 5mg, 1 tablet every 12 hrs. I am also taking IC Oxycodone-Acetaminophen 10-325,1 to 2 tablets every 4-6 hours, and it scares me to take two addictive drugs. I am also on IC Gabapentin 300 MG 3X s a day. I talked with her assistant yesterday and she didn t clear up my concern. Thank you for any help you can offer.
Fortunately the oxycodone and diazepam , though as you said are both addictive, they do not act to increase the addictive potential of each other..
If the diazepam is only used for a short period of time then tolerance and dependence should not occur. Diazepam is also long acting, so there is less risk of dependence
I hope this helps
