Can PCOS Cause Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding?

Several years ago I started spotting between periods. Since then, I ve had 2 D&Cs to clean up my uterus and I had laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. I ve also had 2 children. Now, I spot one week before my period and a few days after my period. I just went back to the docs and all of my tests (pelvic exam, ultrasound and blood test) came back totally fine. What could this be? I do grow hair abnormally on my face and body...could it be PCOS even if I had no cysts in my ovaries? I feel totally lost and no doctors are getting to the route of this.

Hello,

Yes, PCOS may present like irregular cycles. it may be due to insulin resistance or fatty liver disease or ovarian tumour or testosterone secreting tumours (virility) etc.

Check your serum prolactin, sugar levels, testosterone levels, LH and FSH. Please consult your endocrinologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
