Can Paragard IUD Cause Constipation?
Okay, so I had the Paragard inserted about three weeks ago. Had some cramps and a pretty bad period right after insertion, but it went away, and I feel fine. I noticed when it was done that I was mildly constipated but that lasted only a couple days and finally went away. Well now it s a little worse and I m not sure what it s from. I m hoping it s not a problem with the IUD as I absolutely love it. I don t feel any pain or anything with it, but I need to ask. I have been constipated for nearly a week now. I had my two week checkup last week and since then, having a BM has been nearly impossible. I took a mild laxative today and it still isn t doing much for me. Could this be just my body reacting to the checkup? I know every time I go to the OB/GYN I get a little backed up, but never for this long.

Paragard IUD doesn't cause constipation. It has side effect like pain, irregular period, spotting between periods, cramping, heavy or longer period. They will go away after 3 to 6 months.
When you take laxative already but not work you keep taking for a few if still not work you should think about constipation can be cause from eat little fiber, less fluid, too much caffeine, less activity (too little exercise), not go to toilet when you need to go, some side effect of medicine like some group of pain relieve, antidepressants, iron supplement, blood pressure medicine, elderly... if you are using some of those kind of medicine please visit your doctor.
If the problem from the life style please change your life style. Increase eating Vegetable, drink water more, do exercise, go to toilet when you need to, decrease caffeine. If not work you should go to your home doctor to find out any other problem.
