Can Penicillin Tablets Be Taken For Bladder Infection?
I believe I have a bladder infection which I have had a number of years ago. Then I was prescribed Cipro which I won t be able to get for a couple of days. I however have a number of pencilin tablets and wonder could I take them until I see a health care professional?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. No penicillin tablets are not advised for bladder infection. Infection in urinary tract such as urinary bladder is caused by gram negative bacteria which are mainly anaerobes. penicillin is advised for gram positive bacterial infection. First of all You should consult a physician if ciprofloxacin is not working for you. Other options may include norfloxacin or ofloxacin with combination of metrogyl or tinidazole. These combinations are far better than pencillin in treating urinary tract infection.
Refer to your physician Hope this information helps
