Can Percocet And Demerol Be Taken At The Same Time?

Just had foot surgery yesterday and was prescribed percocet for mild to moderate pain and demerol for severe pain. I have been taking just the percocet every 6 hours but now pain has intensified. So after the 6 hrs. on percocet, I took demerol and am still in very severe pain. Is it okay to take these two prescribed medicines together or should I only use one?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Percocet and Demerol are both painkillers. So I don't recommend to use them both. I suggest to use every six-hour one of the medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
