Can Phenobarbital And Gabapentin Be Taken Together?

I have been taking phenorbital for 55+ years, for peti-mall seizures and was told to stay on it for the rest of my life. I now have neoropathy and my Dr wants me to also take gabapentine which is also used for seizures. I have been afraid to take it for fear of adverse reactions.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query.
Both of these are strong antiepileptics and it may have side effects as each of them has. Interactions are not serious but anyway it should be taken together only if there is strong indication such as resistant epilepsy or generilized grand mal seizures.

I hope I have answered your question.
Wish you good health. Regards
