Can Popliteal Fossa Swelling With Stiffness Be Treated?

i am 50 yr old, female suffering from knee pain from 2 yrs.. recently i developed swelling in poopliteal fossa , swelling is soft , there is pain on standing with some stiffness.. i applied ice but it increased the stiffness..taking pain killers now ?
