Can Prednisone Tablet Post Surgery Cause Weight Gain And Abnormal Vaginal Discharge?
Hello I just finished prednisone 3 days ago, which I was taking for 6 days just after the rhinoplasty surgery. Next day when I finished the medication I started to have little brown spot discharge even though my period just recently finished and I am not due for it. During those 6 days I gained 4 pounds as well. Can it be a dude effect from medication

Prednisone causes weight gain when used for long periods of time or in cases where a person has to take multiple frequent courses.
A short course for 6 days, would not cause any permanent change in weight.
It is possible that the change in weight may be due to fluid retention which can occur with steroids. This fluid would be loss within a few days.
Illness or physical stress (such as surgery) can affect the menstrual cycle so this may be the case for you.

hope you have speedy recovery after the surgery.
thankfully your doctor did not give prednisone for long time. generally prednisone can cause weight gain by increasing your appetite and also retaining water. as you are not going to take it for longer it should get better soon.
coming to brown discharge. I am not entirely sure if this is related to prednisone. some times very high doses of prednisone can affect the synthesis of sex hormones nindirectly. this may not cause brown discharge.
I would ask you to wait and see of that improves as you are just done with the surgery and completing prednisone. if this persists then should see your doctor.
