Can Prenatal Vitamins Help In Pregnancy?

I have been taking the Depo-Shot since July of 2014, and my husband and I want to start a family. The research I ve gotten about the shot is that it can take up to 4-10 months after stopping to get pregnant. We want to get pregnant as soon as possible, so will taking prenatal vitamins help our chances of get pregnant sooner?

Hello,
No, taking the prenatal vitamin will help you have a healthy pregnancy and can prevent neural tube birth defects (a defect of the spinal cord) but it will not speed up your ability to conceive. It is true that it can take up to a year for your periods to go back to normal after being on depo-provera but this time varies from woman to woman. Once you are having regular periods again then you will again be able to become pregnant. Take the prenatal vitamins daily, drink plenty of water and exercise daily, at least walking for 30 minutes. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. All these things will help you be as healthy as possible for your pregnancy.
