Can Prilosec Be Taken For Acid Reflux While On Plavix And Warfarin?
I had a stent put in and I .take Plavix and warfarin. I have been taking Prilosec for 35 years. they took me off and gave me another acid reducer that does not dothe job. I have heartburn and reflux. Can I go back to Prilosec? my email is YYYY@YYYY
When Prilosec (omeprazole) and Plavix (clopidogrel) are taken together, the effectiveness of clopidogrel is reduced.
Patients at risk for heart attacks or strokes who use clopidogrel to prevent blood clots will not get the full effect of this medicine if they are also taking omeprazole.
In practice, there is no reason for avoiding concurrent use of Prilosec (omeprazole) with warfarin although monitoring is recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
