Can Progesterone Be Taken For Delayed Periods With HPT Negative While Having PCOS?

I was just prescribed Lutera after not having been on a birth control since 2005. I have PCOS and was told if I was taking a birth control for a couple months it would fix my cycles to the point where once I come off of it, I should have an easier time getting pregnant. My only concern is that I am a month late in my menstrual cycle already with a negative pregnancy test. So should I start taking the pill tomorrow or request a prescription for Progesterone from my doctor?
