Can Provera Cause A False Positive HPT?

Hi, i just finished my last pill of Provera 10 mg yesterday was taking it for 10 days (my obgyn did do a blood test prior to starting this medication and it was negative), i took a home pregnancy test this morning and it is positive. It there any risk of harm to my pregnancy from taking this medication or could it cause to show a false positive? Thanks

I understand your concern.
Provera contains active ingredient 'Medroxyprogesterone', which is a type of female hormone (progestin). This medication is similar to the progesterone that your body naturally makes and is given to replace the hormone when your body is not making enough of it.
Administration of this medication would help to prepare endometrium for implantation process of fertilized ovum and helps to maintain pregnancy.
Taking this medication at recommended dose would not cause any harm to the fetus and will not cause false positive HPT.
Kindly confirm about the pregnancy status by means of clinical evaluation and ultrasound scan.
