Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I was taking warfarin 5mg. 3days and warfarin 2.5 other 4 days. My heart Dr. put me on Ramipril 2.5 mg oral oce daily. The first INR test I had afer taking new drug was about two weeks later. The test showed a result of 7.6. I explained the drug change to the testing person andshe said Ramipril could not be the cause even though I told her I had no other new drugs and my food diet is always the same sait has been for 2 years and that is 4 or 5cans of Jevity 355calories each per day. When I rlated all again and she said it was not the Ramipril. II asked how she knew and she curtly ttold me she knew! I stopped the Ramipril and the warfarin was stopped for 2 days and then resumed and previous dosage. The next INR test was 1.4 and I am currently on old warfarin dosage but have not resume the Ranipril.I will have another testin 4 days. I do not know if she has passed this ifo to my cardiologist. Thank you for any advice you can give. P.S. I found one reference that quoted FDA data that showen rise of INR, especially at age 40 on up and I an 78yeqrs old.
