Can Rinex Ped Syrup Be Given For Cough In A Child?

Hi My daughter is 5 months old. She got a runny nose and a very ugly cough. My doctor prescribed some medication with Rinex Ped to be one of the medications. She said I must give my daughter 1.5ml three times daily. Is Rinex ped safe to give to my daughter? Ive heard and read about different warnings and not to give to infants at all. I also read on the bottle that the syrup is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Please advice

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have cough, runny nose which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection and poor immunity of body. Need not to worry. Rinex Ped syrup as advised to you should not be use din children younger than 4 years. I would suggest you to take combination of NSAID's along with paracetamol. Take diet rich in multivitamins and vitamin C. Your symptoms will resolve in 4-5 days. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit pediatrician once and get some routine blood investigation done. You should do tepid sponging on your child's head to lower down body temperature. Avoid hot, spicy and sharp food substances.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
