Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Rosuvastatin is used for lowering high cholesterol and triglycerides. It is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, also known as a "statin". Commonly reported side effects of use of rosuvastatin include: myalgia (muscle pain and muscle cramps). It is not known to cause hepatocellular damage leading to rise in SGPT (AST) levels. It seems the rise in SGPT levels could be due to alcohol intake as it is a known to have hepatotoxic effect. It would be better to stop alcohol intake so as to prevent further liver damage. Kindly take regularly antioxidant supplements containing Vitamin E, Selenium, Alpha Lipoic acid and Vitamin C, which helps to keep your liver tissue healthy. Hope the information provided helps. Wish you good health. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
