Can Septra Cause Rashes, Fever And Low Platelet Count In Children?

My 2.5 yr son is having recurrent cold and fever from past for 6 month. For problem my family doctor suggested to take septran syp and septilin syp twice a day for 3months. I have been giving septran syp from past 25 days. 4 days back he got fever with few red skin rash on his hand, leg and chest. Then we tested for dengue and platalet count result was negative and platalet 1.37lakh. We met pediatric doctor who advise us to take allegra syp, laktrum powder, septilin syp and not to take septran syp. Also repeat test of platalet count on 5day result again 1.37 lakh. Based this test result peadiatric doctor suggested to repeat the platalet test from different lab as his should be more than 1.5lakh My question to you should i stop giving septran syp as peadiatric doctor suggested that rashes, fever and low platalet count can be side effects of septran syp. He is correct???

I really appreciate your concern, such symptoms and clinical condition may not be due to infection but this could be just allergic condition and it may not need any antibiotic such clinical condition may take some time to come around and this is nothing to worry at all, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
