Can Simvastatin Cause Fever With Headaches And A Sore Throat?

Started getting sore throat, headache, extreme fatigue, low grade fever and body aches 3 days after started taking simvastatin, two weeks ago. Symptoms haven t improved in 2 weeks despite rest and fluids. Could it be side effect of medication? If so, how long would it take to get medicine out of system once I stop taking it?
