It can be taken vaginally, orally or rectally, although the best mode seems to be vaginally. Progesterone will help to increase your luteal phase of menstrual cycle that might help embryo to get more time to attach on the uterine wall, if fertilization occurs. By your description, since your periods are regular, and you have been married for just 5 months, you can try by natural means by timing intercourse during the ovulation period, which would give more chance to conceive without any medications. In case it does not happen even after a year or so, you can consult Gynecologist and get yourself clinically evaluated and try medications accordingly which would improve the chances of conception.
