My sister roja of age 19 is suffering from TB. she often get pain at back and particularly on right side of her back, since 1 week she is suffering from severe headache. she is a diabetic too. Will All the TB patients get this type of headache r back pain???
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. No, headache and back pain are not common symptoms of tuberculosis. She is diabetic, so uncontrolled diabetes can cause similar symptoms. So first of all get done sugar levels too see diabetes control. Diabetic patients are also at risk of disseminated TB (spread of tuberculosis in other organs). So we should also rule out spinal and meningeal tb as a cause for her back pain and headache respectively. So get done MRI spine and MRI brain. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your sister. Thanks.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. No, all TB patients can not cause similar kind of headache and back pain. In my opinion, we should investigate her to search for the cause of this backache and headache. So consult doctor and get done 1. Blood pressure monitoring. Since she is diabetic, undiagnosed hypertension can cause headache. 2. X ray D-L (dorsolumber) spine to see for any spinal pathology like tb infection or osteoporosis etc as a cause for her backache. Strict control of diabetes is needed in TB patients. So consult your doctor and discuss all these. First diagnose her and then start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your sister. Thanks.
